The WCTRS is an organisation whose purpose is to provide a forum for the interchange of ideas among transportation researchers, managers, policy makers, and educators from all over the world, from a perspective which is multi-modal, multi-disciplinary, and multi-sectoral. The Society has become a primary forum for such international exchanges in transportation. Its World Conferences are the place where leading transportation professionals from all countries convene to learn from one another.
WCTRS has over 1,500 members from more than 60 countries and areas.
Emergent Announcement on Abstract Submission to WCTR Rio 2013
To all WCTRS members and those trying to submit abstracts to Rio,
As some of you will have discovered, we have been having problems with
the procedures for submitting abstracts for the Rio conference. Our
colleagues in Rio have been doing their best to remedy the problems, but
it is clear that we need to extend the deadline to allow everyone who
had hoped to submit an abstract to do so.
We are therefore extending the deadline to 15th June 2012. Please let
any colleagues who are not members know of this extended deadline.

WCTRS launches new activities for young researchers; WCTRS-Young Researchers’ Initiative with three activities:
- Activity I: WCTR-Y a one day conference to be organized by young researchers for young researchers on the Sunday before each WCTR (14 July 2013 for Rio),
- Activity II: four WCTRS Ph.D. Students’ Grants (2013 WCTRS Ph.D. Students’ Grants Winners) and
- Activity III: WCTRS Young Online Facility organized by young researchers.

The WCTRS Current Events are the committees meetings scheduled twice the year and scientific activities organised mainly by SIGs.
Half-year Committee Meeting:
The half-year Committees Meeting is scheduled to take place at the site of the forthcoming conference. So STC/SCC/EdB's next meeting will be organised in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on July 20th, 2012. This will give the staff the opportunity to assess the preparations on site !"
